WE KNOW YOU’RE
NOT LOOKING FOR ‘DEEP POCKETS’ IN YOUR HONOLULU
VACATION RENTAL,
BUT THERE MAY
BE NO POCKETS
– OR THEY MAY BE EMPTY.
In the unlikely, but possible, event that
someone in your party is injured or burglarized on the B&B or TVU
property, make sure that the owner or operator has the coverage to
protect you.
A B&B and TVU operator or owner may
only have a simple homeowner’s policy that does not cover
commercial short-term rentals. Make sure they have insurance that
will protect you, your party, and your guests in the event of fire,
storm, injury or accident. Insist they prove it to you before
renting.
Also, if the operator is leasing the
property and operating short-term rentals, with or without the
knowledge of the property owner, you may have difficulty collecting
from the property owner if the operator disappears or is insolvent.
Hotels generally carry liability
insurance to protect you and to protect themselves from financial loss.
